I grew up in Princeton, WV surrounded by fantastic people, art, and music. In college I majored in computer science at Virginia Tech and mastered in Human-Computer Interaction focusing on UI design and usability. Shortly after moving to Durham, NC to start my career as web developer with SAS Institute I married way out of my league (her name is Cass). We live happily with our two furry children and various dog hair-covered effects.
Aside from design and usability I have two other passions: photography and percussion. To the former I am an assistant wedding photographer for the very talented Amanda Olson out of Raleigh, NC. There’s something about photography that speaks to both brains for me: the technical aspects of lighting and exposure, and the creative aspects of composition and post-processing. I am still able to keep percussion a big part of my life by teaching and writing for HS percussion ensembles, judging band competitions, giving clinics, and performing with local ensembles like the Raleigh Civic Symphony and Triangle Brass Band.
